The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 大，特别大。大构图，大留白，“大”节奏，“大”音乐，“大”声效，大场景，大怪物。我仿佛听到导演在创作会上拍着桌子对各部门长说，“除了甜茶可以小帅风，其他的东西都要大！”
没搞懂，营销号是怎么说这部好看，好看吗？并不觉得，整部电影也就话太多，打斗场面完全没有任何惊喜，甚至可以说只有两人格斗，毫无看点
从第一幕皇帝派遣信使送任命开始 被画面震住了 配上汉斯季末的配乐 感官完全被打开 这完全不曾想象过的庞大异世界 维伦纽瓦替我们复制可视了出来 且156分钟没有一秒钟妥协。节奏稳的一比 两个半小时拍了个序又如何 如果能一直看到续作 是我的荣幸才对。
所以他们决定展开一项宏伟的计划：改造沙丘。
怎么说呢，四星还是有的，五星有点满了，其实人们对这类电影一般都很宽容，但这次似乎苛刻了点。多少人之前说沙丘难拍，这个交卷绝对值得再拍两部！
为了铸就这荒漠的磅礴诗意 维伦纽瓦基本放弃了所有叙事 就别硬往库布里克身上吹了 暂且还不至于
有不少观众觉得本片叙事节奏慢、故事单薄。这里面，有个对电影叙事的理解问题：大部分观众，习惯了好莱坞商业大片式讲故事的模式，即将情节前因后果，角色的目的、驱动力，人物关系，正反派的理念以及冲突核心等都交代得清清楚楚，甚至直接用对话或画外音讲出来。观众看电影时，基本不需要自己来理解、分析，这样才能跟得上如今越来越快速的情节和镜头。这种电影的故事复杂性，完全是外在的，是情节点的众多转折让观众产生故事丰富的感觉。而很多艺术电影的叙事需要观众参与，而不仅仅是观赏。这对观众就提出了较高的要求，会使一些观众产生“累心”的感觉。同时，商业大片里的情节往往是线性的，因果关系直接而简单。艺术电影里有很多看似和主线故事无关的情节，角色的某个行为也并不一定与故事的结果有关。可昨晚和老韩看完，仍心想这是什么玩意儿？
让史诗成为史诗的，让异世界成为异世界的，不是世界观的精确或宏大，而是另一群人或生物可信的价值体系，被附加情感重量的灵性细节。

大烂片。现在真是世界电影水平大倒退啊，一个个曾经的名导都昏招迭出，马丁斯科塞斯拍了《爱尔兰人》，诺兰拍了《信条》，维伦纽瓦拍了《沙丘》……
我也不理解大家对史诗的定义。看了两个多小时，我甚至不知道男主在想什么。
维伦纽瓦电影里的人物真的毫无个性，拯救世界如坐办公室，每个人都是公务员式的英雄，装在套子里完成命运（故事）给定的任务，史诗旅程好像看报喝一盅茶，世界再宏大也是个冰冷规整的机关单位。就好像与老版银翼杀手相比，2049属实是我们当下干净漂亮整齐斑斓亮堂扁平高清，外表躁动内中冷淡，庞大却常常毫无意义的现实，沙丘对比星球大战之类的老式大片，即使更加宏大精良，也无法掩盖其生命力的缺乏。（以及为什么这个年代了还要拍殖民主义倾向如此难以掩饰的片子，有啥意义……）
视听效果不错，但打斗场面简直不忍直视
绝对是最神神乎乎的沙丘，没有之一。电影营造的所谓高级感，真没法接受。三颗星全给甜茶，plus 女主真不好看～
能够重新校准这个十年科幻片天花板的电影。好莱坞终于不再让人失望，电影终于重新回归电影。
从《银翼杀手2049》到《降临》，《沙丘》，维伦纽瓦开创了一个新的科幻电影类型，慢动作科幻电影或者称之为闷科幻，哈哈
配乐满分，特效满分，沙虫满分，甜茶地道普通话+1分。
视觉上，善于使用对比去衬托巨大与渺小，宏大场面搭上汉斯季默配乐，带来极其震撼的视听冲击。同时，再次看出大导演们对微缩模型的坚持。
